National Data Opt-Out
The National Data Opt-Out is a service provided by the NHS that allows patients to choose whether their confidential patient information is used for purposes beyond their individual care β specifically for research and planning.
What has changed?
Previously, decisions about opting out were managed by your GP practice, as the Data Controller. However, from 11 October 2018, this responsibility moved to individual patients. You now have direct control over whether your health data is shared for research and planning.
