Information About Your Health Records and Sharing Choices
What is the HSCIC?
The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) is a national NHS organisation responsible for collecting health and social care data to help improve services, support research, and plan care.
How is your information used?
Your personal health information is used to support your care and to help improve health services for everyone. This may include sharing anonymised data for research and planning.
Your right to opt out (Type 2 Objection):
You can choose to stop your personal confidential information from being shared beyond your GP practice for purposes other than your direct care and treatment. This is known as a “Type 2 objection” or opt-out.
-
If you previously registered an opt-out, it has been implemented since 29 April 2016.
-
Your opt-out will remain in place unless you decide to change it.
How to manage your opt-out:
Contact your GP practice to register or cancel an opt-out. They will update your medical records accordingly and confirm your current opt-out status.
